That's a lot of notebooks to sell!  I guess with the EEE competing against the OLPC, and actually winning bulk orders from countries who would like to use it en-masse, it is possible.

Hello Floyd,

Too bad they're putting windoze on the next models. But I guess it's still business and if most people out there can't manage even a sterilized version of linux then it'll have to be microsoft. The brand imprinting is too powerful and linux has a bit of a "geeks only" image problem. Darn, thought this was gonna be the platform where linux was gonna go mainstream.

Unless, they bundle the install properly, that's gonna be a lot of disk space eaten by Windows. I'm pretty sure some of the buyers of these new models will suddenly complain why their eee isn't working after they installed too many programs. Smiley

The Eee PC as a zombie PC that spews out SPAM and performs DDOS attacks at the beck and call of l33t hax0rs:  c00l indeed -- but no thanks Sad

That's going to require a lot of batteries and I hope Asus has plans in place to make it happen.  Grin
