Do any of you know of a good parental control software thats free? And not trial version only.
One that can limit time that the computer can be used. Limit amount of time per day it can be used. Limit amount of time internet can be used per day.
Also limit who they can chat with and who they can send email to, etc
Thanks

You can limit internet time through the interface of your router. There's probably an option there to limit access to the net for specific computers for specific times of day.

windows vista has this.  i saw it in vista ultimate.  i'm not sure if other versions have it.

also, if you want to limit the websites that your kids can view, use glubble plugin for firefox and remove IE. Smiley

with glubble, your kids can request to view a certain website even if you're in the office.

kung nka network kau sa bhay, you could try ung mga net cafe software... you could set how many hours he could use the net.. it will automatically log him off...baka may history feature din ung software na un kung anong site pinuntahan ng anak mo, mbblock mo pa kung di mo gusto ung site.. nakalimutan ko lng ung mga name ng softwares na un e..

as for the parental control naman on sites he could visit, mejo mahirap yan... kc you could block some but not all.. yan din kasi prob ng mga IT sa mga malalaking company with internet access.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man (using eeepc). Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

I think what Csi_red means is that you can control the unit used by your child via router.

You can set your router to recognize the unit via its MAC address filter.  Each unit has its unique MAC address.  Then you can determine what hours that unit has access to the internet.  This is assuming that you have more than one unit networked via wifi.

To set up MAC filtering on your router, here's mark_eee's tutorial: (see item number 5)
