I was talking to a technician awhile ago when they were fixing our neighbor's connection. I was just inquiring on how to get a broadband line from them since my pldt connection is still on the process (as they always say). The tech told me that they will be bundling asus eee pc's with their dsl packages...

Anyone heard about this as well?

If that's true, that sounds like an astute move. And think of the people who'll be introduced to Linux  Smiley

yup it is true. a very reliable source told me but the packages aren't ready yet. they are still finalizing what kind of packages and bundles will be offered. nonetheless, the early adopters are still lucky because of the extra pci-e and it's unclear whether they will be giving away the eee's or simply bundling it where the customer still pays. lastly, they also didnt mention if it was 2gb, surf or the regular 701 model... i'd switch to globe if they'll give me an 8GB eee for free! hahaha.

Yup, my friend at Globelines just confirmed this. However they will be launching the pilot in Davao and Cebu only.

No word yet on getting this in Manila and what packages are available.

I'll keep you posted!   Smiley

Not really. Hi-end connections like the 2mbps would include a wifi router with the package.

The eee will replace the old redfox computer packages they used to offer on installment along with a broadband connection.

Can any of our peeps in the south confirm that this project is already on-going?

most likely it will be via usb cause hacking at the motherboard is both expensive and might void warranty unless they're read best buds with asus.

use www.dslreports.com to test your connection. I had a trial account last year. using the tests at the website showed that the upload bandwidth is narrower than download bandwidth.

hmmm, dito sa Singapore this is normal, mas mabilis ang download than upload. itong internet ko is 1mbps ang download pero upload is 500kbps lang.

the only problem I have sa Globelines namin sa Pinas is during their so called "upgrade" madalas 2 weeks to 1 month kami walang internet!
