You can try to repair Windows, or force update the Device Drivers

Same problem here. My Nlited ASUS EEE now can't detect the cellphone's modem using Nokia PC Suite,  How do you force install these drivers?

if you removed it with Nlite, you're going to have to make a new install.

Follow the guides here and the other forums to make sure you don't remove anything critical.

There's a lot of helpful guides out there.

CDR King is selling a USB modem.  Can we use this on our Eeepcs?

This is the link: http://www.cdrking.com/local/products/index.php?action=&temp=2&typeno=5398859-567292-612195429-6878404&prod=Fax/Modem&prodcode=3809967-677926-516574676-2757733

modem drivers are different from modem support (of windows). you can remove the drivers and can still use the drivers that comes with the modem, but if you remove support, you will need to redo the nilte cd then reinstall since no matter what you do, windows won't recognize the modem, regardless if you have the modem drivers or not.

Tulisan is correct, I learned this the hard way. Using my dell laptop as a test machine I installed my nlited xp which has no modem support. Then I tried reinserting the INF and the Driver folder taken from a full xp install. I then connected my usb modem but it is not recognized.
So I again redid my nlited xp this time with modem support(from the step where the drivers are selected). After installing on the dell the usb modem is now recognized "out of the box"....
