I was in Bangkok last week.  Was planning to get a 3E (4G 701) as a gift for my Dad.  I noticed that the new 4G 701 units only came with 4400mAh batteries.  My 7B 4G 701 came with a 5200mAh rated battery.

Is this really the case now?  I ended up not buying one solely for this reason.

Supposedly the 2G and 4G Surf models are the ones that come with the 4400mAh battery.  I was in fact surprised when all the 4G 701 units I checked out in Bangkok last week were equipped with just the 4400mAh battery.

Just wanted to make sure I was not being shortchanged in BKK.  Although it kinda feels like it since my unit came equipped with the 5200.

Wow....asus slowly starting to pull fast-ones on their consumers!  Angry Now their putting weaker batts on the new eeepc's but the price remains the same. Swerte ng early adaptors Smiley

I think it's because of the battery shortage that happened and caused the stock issues for asus, so they switched to weaker batteries.

So if you have a 7A to 7C, you still got good stuff there. Malay natin yung eee 900 4400 mAh lang din pala.

Yup kinda felt like I was getting shortchanged.  Anyway not much we can do right...and my Dad's been bugging me to get him a unit so I'll end up getting a 4400mAh equipped 4G 701 in Bangkok in 3 weeks time.

Out of curiosity I checked Luthien's battery and discovered that it's only 4800 mAh.  My unit was purchased February 9 (81 model).  Don't tell me pakonti ng pakonti ang capacity the later you buy???

I was not aware of a 4800mAh rated battery for the 3E.  I thought they only came with either the 5200mAh (for the 4g 701 and 8g) or the 4400mAh (for the 4g Surf and 2G).

Naku, that's added pressure for those still waiting for their first eee pc units with the "improved" features.

First to go were the PCIE slots inside. Now it's power capacity...

I hope some good 3rd-party companies step up with good batteries and other extensions.

hmmm sensya na po kung magiging know-it-all po ako but I think I've read this issue somewhere in the net one of those times I was doing my fave hobby since I got my very own EeePC; browse the net for everything EeePC.

I think it was just a problem with putting wrong sticker labels on the batt. something like 4800mAh labels were put on 5200mAh capacity batts indeliberately Smiley I'll try to get the site where I got it (I think from blogeee.net since I'm also forum member there) But at any rate, probably what those who got 4800mAh batts can do is to test their batts. Any one here who's a batt expert could help? Smiley

Edit
checked it, it was at blogeee.net that I read it Smiley
you can check your batt capacity in linux with this commande :
/home/user> sudo cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info

Given my battery capacity from the other thread (3 hours without USB devices, with 3 or 4 windows open, relatively bright screen and 2.5 hours with USB devices attached) there's a good chance that the 4800 mAh is actually 5200 mislabeled... Or at least I hope so.

Ang alam ko rin nga the eee batt came in 5200 and 4400 only eh.  Kaya ako nagulat sa 4800.
